Information processed

• Technical request data. Our hosting provider, Vercel, may process information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP address, request URL, date and time, browser or device information, referrer, response status, and related logs.
• Aggregate audience data. Our self-hosted Umami analytics service records page views, referring site, browser, operating system, device type, and approximate country. Umami does not set analytics cookies or create advertising profiles.
• Messages you send. If you email us, we receive your email address and any information, attachments, and routing metadata included in the message.
• No site profiles. We do not offer accounts, collect information through web forms, or build profiles about visitors.

How we use information

Technical request data is processed to deliver the site, maintain reliability and security, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse. Aggregate audience data helps us understand which pages are visited and where visitors generally arrive from. Contact information is used to answer inquiries, discuss research or product work, maintain necessary correspondence, and meet legal obligations.

Cookies and analytics

Synviron.com uses a self-hosted instance of Umami for limited, aggregate audience analytics. The analytics script does not set cookies or use browser storage to identify visitors. Umami derives a rotating, pseudonymous session identifier from request information instead of storing a persistent visitor identifier. We do not sell personal information, use analytics for advertising, or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because the site does not perform cross-site tracking, browser Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals do not change its behavior.

Service providers and disclosure

Vercel hosts this website. Synviron operates its own Umami analytics service at stats.ectotropy.com. Our email provider processes messages sent to us. These providers process information to supply their services. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or security, investigate abuse, or complete a corporate transaction.

Technical information may be processed in the United States or other locations used by our service providers.

Retention

Hosting and security logs are retained according to our provider settings and policies. Aggregate Umami analytics records are retained until they are no longer useful for understanding site traffic or operating the website. Email correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the conversation, research or business records, security, dispute resolution, or legal obligations, then deleted or de-identified when appropriate.

The site links to GitHub and SourceForge. When you follow an external link, that service receives your request and applies its own privacy terms. This notice does not govern third-party sites.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of personal information, or to object to certain processing. Email hello@synviron.com to make a request. We may need to verify the request and may retain information when permitted or required by law.

Children

This site is intended for adult researchers, developers, and institutional users. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
